Think & Drink is an onstage conversation series that explores provocative ideas and fresh perspectives. The 2018–19 series features conversations with renowned writers about questions relating to journalism and justice.
Omar El Akkad is an award-winning journalist and author, who has covered the war in Afghanistan, military trials in Guantanamo Bay, the Arab Spring revolution in Egypt and the Black Lives Matter movement in Ferguson, Missouri. In 2018, El Akkad’s debut novel, American War, was awarded the Oregon Book Award for fiction. more >>>
Interviewer Emily Harris is is a reporter and producer for the Center for Investigative Reporting’s podcast, Reveal. She previously served as an NPR international correspondent, based first in Berlin and later in Jerusalem. Harris helped start and host “Think Out Loud,” Oregon Public Broadcasting’s daily public affairs talk show. more >>>
