Montavilla Neighborhood Association’s Neighborhood Cleanup will be Saturday, May 18, 9 am – 2 pm at Montavilla Baptist Church (9204 SE Hawthorne Blvd). Neighbors will be able to bring and dispose of recyclable and non-recyclable items such as electronics and small appliances. More info to come about accepted items and disposal fees. MNA will also hold a rummage sale this summer – date, time and location to be determined. Funds raised will be used to further key neighborhood projects.
The 7th annual 82nd Avenue of Roses Parade will be held Saturday, April 27, 10 am. Many volunteers, including individuals and families, are being sought to help make this a fabulous event. Interested parties can learn more at www.82ndavenue.org. First Fridays on Stark also are coming with spring just around the corner. First Friday is a monthly celebration of art and music in SE Portland. Businesses on Stark Street between SE 76th & 82nd will stay open late hosting art openings, live music and more! Next First Friday is Friday, April 5.
MNA is also hosting or sponsoring two upcoming forums. A follow-up meeting with Portland Bureau of Transportation representatives addressing proposed solutions to pedestrian safety on NE Glisan is being hosted by MNA at 7 pm, April 22 at Montavilla United Methodist Church (232 SE 80th). Together with other neighborhood associations, Southeast Uplift and Central Northeast Neighbors, MNA is sponsoring the “82nd Avenue Community Forum”, an interactive visioning event to stimulate thinking and collaboration on how to improve 82nd Ave. in comprehensive fashion. This event will be at Madison High School (2735 NE 82nd) on Saturday, May 4, 10 am – 1 pm.
