Imagine singing in a beautiful setting with women of all generations, surrounded by towering trees along the Sandy River. Imagine lodging in clean, heated camp cabins with half baths, bunk beds and a shared bath house. Now imagine five delicious home-cooked meals with vegetarian options and special dietary needs accommodated and a wide variety of singing-related workshops and classes to choose from. You can gain new skills, new friends, new confidence and learn great songs to bring home and share with your friends and family.
Your imagination has just perfectly described the Connecting Community One Song at a Time, a retreat facilitated by the 1000 Canaries Collective and hosted by Crystal Akins, Connie and Anna Cohen, and Anne Weiss. The weekend is affordable and open to women and girls of all ages and takes place September 6-8 at Camp Collins, an accessible YMCA camp near Oxbow Park 30 minutes from Portland. No previous experience to sing or attend is needed. There is a full weekend option and a Saturday-only option.
There is a opening ceremony planned and a Connie Cohen/Anne Weiss concert Friday night, campfire circles, a craft corner, optional yoga and Qi-Gong sessions. Registration deadline is August 15. Get out of the city for a breather and sing and sing.
