Thank you to our 2013 Hawthorne Street Fair Sponsors!  Golden: Rivermark Community Credit Union, Fred Meyer, Safeway and Yelp, Silver: Jiffy Lube, Southeast Examiner Bronze: Imelda’s and Louie’s Shoes, Por Que’ No Taqueria, Hawthorne Wellness, Kalberer Company, New Seasons, Presents of Mind, Sloan Boutique and Fred’s Sound of Music. Other: Gold Door, HAND, Memento, Powell’s Books, Richmond NA, Schaeffer & Associates, LLC (Center Office Bldg.), Schaeffer & Associates, LLC (Hawthorne Court Apartments), Sunnyside NA, and Sorel Vintages, Bee Thinking/Mead Market, Bishop’s Barbershop and Portland Pet Supply and all the businesses that support the Hawthorne District and our neighborhoods!

We are looking forward to a great Street Fair Sunday, August 18, 11 am to 7 pm. Memento will be sharing space in front of their store with Bridgetown Wine Cart and many other businesses are planning special activities from Kids at Heart to sidewalk sales at several of our retailers.  Bazi on SE 32nd Ave., will host the beer garden again. Live music and more.

The Main Stage on SE 34th Avenue music booked to date includes the New Iberians, Angel Bouchet Band, Ben Rice Band, Dylan May’s No Hero and the Portland School of Rock Performance Band to close out the day – a splendid mix of great music.

Activities on the other side of Cesar Chavez, besides more vendors include Fyberworks Boutique, 4300, is hosting the Kitchie Kitchie Kool Garage Sale. Pita Pit, 4121, will be playing music and handing out samples.  Muse Art & Design, 4200, will have an Art show and Art Activities.

We did try, once again, to close Hawthorne for this event, however, due to all the road construction work happening around us, the City did not feel it was the best choice this year. We will plan for 2014!

Once again – remember to invite your out-of-town friends, relatives and facebook friends to check out new venues and events planned by businesses and property owners at the Street Fair.

Sunday Parkways will cross Hawthorne on August 25 this year.
