Willamette Week just put out its 2013 restaurant guide, and Division’s many excellent restaurants are featured from Restaurant of the Year to the parody on the back page. Seafood restaurant Roe, at 31st and Division behind Block and Tackle, is Restaurant of the Year, followed closely by pasta house Ave Gene’s, 33rd and Division,  as runner up.

The guide goes on to praise Bar Avignon, 21st and Division; Ethiopian restaurant Bete-Lukas just off Division at 50th; fish house Block and Tackle; Broder, 25th and Clinton; Mi Mero Mole, 50th and Division; former winner Pok Pok; Sen Yai; former winner Nuestra Cocina; Little Big Burger; Cambodian Sok Sab Bai on SE 21st just past Clinton; another former winner St Jack; The Woodsman Tavern and Xico. Reel-M-Inn is mentioned for its Fried Chicken Breast and jojos. Bars included Whiskey Soda Lounge and desserts includes Lauretta Jeans, Victory Bar, Petite Provence, Landmark Saloon and Caffee Pallino.

Incoming restaurants are Roman Candle (new in July), and Bollywood Theatre, opening in November at 30th and Division. The long-speculated-on Chicken Waffles will soon open at 2111 SE Division, next door to Ether. Gone are Wafu, now Block and Tackle and The Kingdom of Roosevelt, now the brunch-house Trinket. Vindalho is replaced by Ahi Sushi and Tapas and Matchbox Lounge by The Richmond. Pizzicato Pizza consolidated at their 60th Ave. site. Artifact Buy Sell Trade will open next to Portico. Owner Leah Meijer is the daughter of Johan of Portico and Marcee of Village Merchants.

The former Fox Fence property is now under construction as well as the property on the corner of at 48th and Division.

If it’s time for your computer’s annual checkup, Fix My Dead PC moved to 1350 SE 122nd.  It’s a ways out of the way, but Don will remember your computer.

Construction continues on Division and sidestreets, as well as around the light rail tracks, but the worst of it is over. Bioswale planting and tree replacement is scheduled before winter, weather permitting.

Joseph Annett from BES remains available. Contact him at 503.823.2934 or joseph.annett@portlandoregon.gov.
