Join the community in celebrating the Ground-breaking Ceremony for the new Franklin High School Saturday,   May 16, Noon – 1 pm at 5404 SE Woodward St.
Mayor Charlie Hales will join Portland Public Schools Superintendent Carole Smith in the celebration that features a performance by Franklin’s dance troupe. A Franklin alumni event precedes the ground-breaking and a BBQ lunch will follow.
The modernization of both Franklin and Roosevelt High Schools is a significant milestone for the city of Portland. They are the first of three high schools to be rebuilt thanks to the School Building Improvement Bond passed by voters in 2012.
Construction on the Franklin campus begins this June and the new fully-modernized Franklin will open in the fall of 2017. For the next two years, the entire Franklin school community will temporarily relocate to the Marshall campus on SE 92nd Ave. For more see the Franklin Bond website FranklinBond.pps.net.
