David Tiller and Enion Pelta-Tiller are the musical creative couple behind the Lyons, Colorado band Taarka. They perform in concert Wednesday, May 6 at The Goodfoot, 2845 SE Stark St. in a 10 pm show. Tickets are $10 at the door
Taarka’s musical influences stretch from Django-inspired sounds of old-world Europe to Roma and Klezmer music to Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains. With finely-crafted songwriting and spirited instrumentals, the string band spins Eastern European folk, American Bluegrass and spontaneous improvisation.
Their just-released album Making Tracks Home features David on mandolin, bass, tenor guitar, bouzouki and vocals, Enion on five-string violin and vocals crafting a jaw-dropping and intricately gorgeous sound. On this tour, the duo is augmented by bassist Troy Robey and guitarist Mike Robinson.
This is otherworldly, energetic inspiring music. The group is a favorite at the Oregon Country Fair, High Sierra, Telluride etc. and tour the US often. Visit taarka.com for a preview.
