Songwriter and now Oregon Book Award finalist, Nick Jaina has penned Get It While You Can and is celebrating its release in a “novel” way – by reading it out loud in its entirety live with improvised musical accompaniment.

The reading is free and is Saturday, April 9 at Viscount Dance Studio, 720 NE Sandy Blvd. His memoir begins at 6 pm and continues on to midnight. The public is invited to come and go as the spirit moves.

Joining Nick will be Daniel Hunt (Neko Case band) on percussion and Jason Leonard (Loch Lomond) on bass and atmospherics. The music will be entirely improvised.

Born in Sacramento, Jaina has released seven albums and written the music for several ballets, contemporary dance pieces, feature films, and plays.
