The US premiere of Liza! Liza! Liza! is presented by triangle! productions. Three versions of Liza Minnelli cleverly converge and compare notes about all the successes and misfortunes of Minnelli’s life in a story by Richard Harris. The 3 Lizas from left to right are Hannah Wilson, Liza 1; Emily Sahler, Liza 3; and Jillian Snow is Liza 2. Sound confusing? see below
triangle productions! brings Richard Harris’ Liza! Liza! Liza! stateside for its US premiere May 5 – May 28 with performances at The Sanctuary at Sandy Plaza, 1785 NE Sandy Blvd. The show is directed by Donald Horn.
In the story, three actresses portray Liza Minnelli at various times in her career and are often onstage together. Liza 3, the present day version, tries to go on stage, but her hip doesn’t do what it used to after being replaced. Liza 1, age 17, (on the verge of her first Tony award), tries to show Liza 3 how it’s all done through ballet. Minnelli’s original love was ballet and what she first started to do in theatre before mother Judy Garland intervened.
Liza 2 (Oscar winner for Cabaret), sits by listening awhile as the other Lizas talk. An entertaining and intriguing evening of memories and song streams forth.
The three ages of Minnelli are played by Hannah Wilson (Liza 1), Jillian Snow (Liza 2), and Emily Sahler (Liza 3) and the production features songs from both Minnelli’s and Garland’s career.
The show is presented Thursdays – Saturdays at 7:30 pm with Sunday matinees at 2 pm on May 15 and 22. All seats are reserved with prices $15 – $35. Group rates available.
