Amazing that it is Fall already! Our businesses are readying themselves for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Cyber Monday and Giving Tuesday, in addition to the December 2016 Holidays! The Hawthorne District will again publish the Holiday Gift Guide and hold the 2nd Annual Tree Lighting at The Fernie Brae.
HBBA is looking forward to having a District Map early in 2017 so we will be working with our businesses to create a document for our neighbors, community and visitors to find the Boulevard’s products and services!
We’ve had more feedback about the 34th Annual Street Fair which tells us we’re on the right track: great music on both stages provided by local musicians and partially sponsored by Really Good Stuff, excellent children’s entertainment sponsored by Kids at Heart, OMSI and Echo Theater, plus buskers, pop-up dancers, mini-parades and sports activities.
Both the vendors and attendees like being on the Boulevard without cars as well as the unusual way we configure the vendors and food booths. After working at it for many years, we are pleased that more of our visitors are checking out businesses east of Cesar Chavez during the day.
The Fernie Brae, Hawthorne Hophouse, Muse Art & Design and New Seasons all indicated they had good days, too! The SE Examiner and our businesses put together a super six page insert in the August edition and we could not have made it all happen without our business and community Sponsors and volunteers! Put Sunday, August 27 on your calendars now and invite your out of town friends and family to join us next year.
