It’s a Tony Starlight Christmas returns for the twelfth year, eleven performances and two specials beginning Sunday, December 2.
Think classic holiday TV shows with Bing Crosby and Dean Martin spreading the holiday cheer. The shows are a Vegas-style spoof of performances combining jazz parodies, comedy and Christmas tunes. Joe Friday arrests Frosty the Snowman. Impressions of Dean Martin, Bing Crosby, Jimmy Durante, Neil Diamond and others. Duets with vocalist Barbara Ayars. Songs from holiday specials like The Grinch and Scrooge and more.
It all takes place at the Starlight Showroom, 1125 SE Madison St. Dec. 2, 13, 14, 16, and December 19-23. Most shows include a three-course dinner (Dec. 16 show includes brunch). Show only tickets available. Times and prices vary by show.
Sinatra by Request Friday, December 28 with pianist John Gilmore whose dad, Voyle, was Sinatra’s producer at Capitol Records from 1953 to 1958. Gilmore peppers the show with one-of-a-kind anecdotes about Sinatra and recording sessions his father was an integral part of. Saturday, December 29, it’s the Neil Diamond Holiday Experience, a multimedia live music tribute with Starlight in a Diamond-studded tribute with a six-piece band.
