The submission window for nature photos for Our Big Backyard, Metro’s quarterly parks and nature magazine, contest is currently open. The contest asks participants to submit photos showing how they get their nature fix.
For some, it’s time in the backyard, in a local park, on a trail or even watching a bird feeder from inside. Nature comes in many ways and forms and it can be celebrated through photography.
Photos taken anywhere in greater Portland, from Forest Grove in the west to the Sandy River in the east to Wilsonville in the south are eligible. Simply send a picture along with your full name, city you live in and a 50-word caption describing where it was taken, what you were doing or what captured your attention to ourbigbackyard@oregonmetro.gov.
Digitally altered photos are not eligible and only one entry per person. Get snapping and enter by Sunday, May 15.
We were walking along the shore line of the sandy River looking to see where the smelt used to come down, just north of hwy. 84 when we saw a shadow of a bird in the water looking at something and made a wonderful reflection in the water. It was so clear that I had to take a picture with my Cellphone. Was surprised how it turned out.Had it on my camera for about a year. I get the Parks and nature news, I really enjoy the pictures and news on it. Hope you like this picture even if does not get in the paper.
