In mid-June Portland Parks & Recreation (PP&R) announced that applications for the Preschool for All (PFA) 2026-2027 school year have reopened. To be eligible, a child must be 3 or 4 years old by September 1 of the preschool year and have a parent or legal guardian living in Multnomah County. Children who are 5 on or before September 1 are eligible for kindergarten and not eligible to participate in the PFA program.
All PFA slots are full-time, and families enrolling should intend to participate five days a week. The program provides two snacks and one lunch to all participants at no additional charge.
Registration is based on a lottery managed through Multnomah County’s PFA. Applicants will be contacted if their child is offered a preschool placement. If no placement is available, the child will be added to the waitlist at all of the preschools selected on the application.
