As summer comes to a close, all but one of Portland Parks & Recreation’s (PP&R) outdoor pools closed at the end of August; Peninsula Outdoor Pool will remain open through Labor Day. Their four indoor year-round pools are also open and available to the public, including the recently renovated Mt. Scott Community Center and Pool.
To keep the indoor pools at their best, PP&R closes each facility every year for regular maintenance and upkeep. Pools are drained, light repairs are completed and deep cleaning pool areas and locker rooms takes place. Larger repair and replacement projects (for example, boiler replacement, roofing projects, etc.) are also timed to happen during the annually scheduled maintenance to minimize closure time for the public.
The closure schedule for annual maintenance runs mid-August through the end of October. SE’s Mt. Scott Community Center and Indoor Pool will be closed Monday, September 28-Saturday, October 10.
