After years of art shows, traveling and street performing, SE resident and now world traveler Karla Mi Lugo celebrates her last west coast performance before heading to Europe with an original one woman show, Billie Holiday Impersonator, presented Saturday August 16 at Floyd’s Coffee, 118 NW Couch St.
A simultaneous portrait of both Holiday and Mi Lugo in a format that relates Holiday’s story with the improvised vaudevillian tradition fuses elements of modern dance, world-class whistling, accordion music, street performance, comedy and balloon art. The show is a fundraiser for Mi Lugo as she makes her artist pilgrimage to Paris to perform the Billie Holiday show in September.
The evening’s presentation begins at 8 pm. Suggested ticket price is $10, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds. No espresso drinks will be made during the performance so come early for coffee and get a close up seat.
