With snowflakes a-flying and lights ablaze, Hawthorne Blvd. businesses are looking forward to taking care of our neighbors, community members and Holiday season visitors with great food, gifts, services and the 4th Annual Gift Guide. Shopping Locally is the way to go.
We suggest you join the Pledge to Shop Local movement. Portlanders have always been loyal to local and the holiday season is no different. So make it official – pledge to keep your hard-earned money ‘home for the holidays’ by shopping locally and supporting neighborhood businesses this holiday season. Update your Facebook or Twitter with the ‘I pledge to SHOP LOCAL’ image and #PledgeLocalPDX. When you shop at local neighborhood businesses, 70% of every dollar you spend stays in Portland’s local economy ensuring happy holidays for all.
There will be posters in the windows of the businesses who are collecting toys for the KGW Toy Drive this year.
They include Mariko Locke -State Farm Ins. at 51st, One With Heart Tulen Center, Wells Fargo Bank, Memento pdx, Presents of Mind, Kids at Heart Toys, Hawthorne Gardens Senior Living, Bazi Bierbrasserie, and Jam on Hawthorne at 23rd. Kids at Heart offers a 10% discount on toys bought to donate!
The new Lounge Lizard Annex (next to the School of Rock) has a beautiful paint job and hundreds, if not thousands, of items for your shopping pleasure. We’re looking forward to a Spring event at the west end of the District in 2015. Watch for details.
HBBA is currently holding its 2015 Membership Drive and appreciates the support of the many businesses, property owners and neighbors who keep our District strong and help make our events successful.
Thank you to article sponsors, Hawthorne Vision Center and The SE Examiner and to 2014 Benefactors: Safeway on Hawthorne, US Bank and New Seasons Market.
