Over 140 artists and craftspersons come together again to benefit Buckman Arts Focus Elementary School for the Silver 25th Anniversary year of the Art Show and Sell Saturday and Sunday March 7 and 8. This family-friendly weekend is held at Buckman, at 320 SE 16th Ave. The celebration includes live music, food, hands on kids activities, a silent auction and art, art and even more art. Best of all, there’ll be a separate gallery showcasing the work of many talented Buckman students and young alumni.
This proud SE Portland tradtion has been a huge part of the neighborhood for a quarter century and the variety of art and artists is illuminating. That many artists take two days to see and this annual event generates a significant portion of the PTA’s income for the school’s rich arts program that is the venerable Buckman Elementary’s legacy.
The live music this year covers lots of ground too. Saturday features songwriter Little Sue, the acoustic Waxwings, Nicole Campbell Band, and for the first time this year, Fink & Friends, Keith Bornzin, and Flat Stanley. Sunday music features Buckman‘s Marimba Ensemble and student dance groups to showcase the school’s music, chorus and dance programs.
Saturday hours are 10 am to 6 pm and Sunday 10 am to 4 pm. Admission is by suggested donation of $2-$5 per person, and children 4 and under are free.
