Songwriter extraordinaire, sweet guitar picker gifted with the voice of an angel, and the devil on his shoulder, Jimmy was a fixture on the Portland music scene for 20 years before his body finally let him down on January 21, 2016.
The power of his music was such that the weekly Sunday gig the Freak Mountain Ramblers played became known simply as “Church”.
The sweetest, kindest, generous and gentle person one could imagine in a scruffy rock and roller, Jimmy had that magic gift of making everyone feel like a close and special friend.
We shall exalt in the fact that we knew and loved him, and have his songs forever in our hearts, but we shall mourn for our buddy and all his songs that remain unwritten.
