Obonfest 2016

Obonfest is a summertime Japanese festival commemorating ancestors and family members who have recently passed.

In their honor, lanterns are hung, Bon Odori (Obon dance) is performed, memorial visits are made, and food is offered.

Oregon Buddhist Temple celebrates Obonfest annually on the first Saturday of August with music, taiko, dance and delicious food.

This year’s fest is Saturday August 6 and the celebration is at Oregon Buddhist Temple, 3702 SE 34th Ave. from 3 pm to 9 pm. Everyone is welcome, families, non-Buddhist neighbors, and fun-loving food lovers. It is a free event.
