Healthcare is a right, not a privilege.

Open enrollment for 2018 on the healthcare marketplace via HealthCare.gov began on November 1 and lasts until December 15. If this is your first time getting covered or you are returning to shop and save, you must take action by December 15. If you already have coverage, take a moment to update and review your information – make sure your plan still meets your needs. By comparing options for 2018, you may find it cheaper to select a new plan.

Free assistance with Medicare is available from certified counselors through Senior Health Insurance Benefits Assistance Program (SHIBA) at 800.722.4134. Free enrollment help is available. If you have questions about signing up or want to talk through your options with a trained professional, you may call 800.318.2596 or visit localhelp.healthcare.gov. Feel free to share this information with anyone you know you who might need it.

Division Clinton celebrated Small Business Saturday in spite of the wayward weather. Thanks to all of you who came out, visited our shops and our booth.

Local businesses in the news this month include OP Wurst for sausages; Imperial Bottle Shop and The Beermongers as notable bottle shops; Le Moule for a mean bowl of mussels; Division Street’s Double Dragon for noodles; Clinton Street Coffeehouse for a place to be quiet; Ava Gene’s for vegetables with pasta; Dot’s Café and Landmark Saloon for Chili Jamboree; Southeast Wine collective for wine; Victory Bar for its 1984 Theme; Southeast Wine Collective and La Moule for specific wines; and Xico, Bollywood Theater, and New Seasons Deli for specific dishes.

Happy Holidays and a bright New Year!
