Glen Canyon Documentary

WaterWatch co-hosts a screening with the Glen Canyon Institute of their documentary, What the River Knows, Saturday, October 24 at PAM CUT Tomorrow Theater, 3530 SE Division St. The film explores the slow re-emergence of Glen Canyon as the waters of Lake Powell recede and reveal more of the landscape submerged—and thought lost forever—since construction of Glen Canyon Dam and Lake Powell reservoir began in 1956 and went online in 1963.
Today, a lost Eden emerges from beneath Lake Powell, revealing both the consequences of past mistakes and the potential for a new path forward for the Colorado River. What The River Knows explores this pivotal moment, where the urgent need to rethink water management in the West aligns with an opportunity to restore a stunning landscape and flooded ancestral homeland. Amidst the grim discussions surrounding climate change and the Colorado River crisis, the film tells a powerful story of nature’s resilience: Glen Canyon is coming back to life.
Tickets ($15) available at waterwatch.org/events. Doors open at 6 pm, with the event starting at 7 pm. Following the film screening, the event will conclude with a panel discussion and audience Q&A.
