Loveness Wesa grew up listening to Thomas Mapfumo, Fela Kuti, Bob Marley and Ladysmith Black Mambazo to name a few. Friday, April 5, Wesa’s energetic Bantus Band. mixes Southern African traditional beats with modern instruments at Mt. Tabor Theater, 4811 SE Hawthorne Blvd. The Lion of Zimbabwe. Thomas Mapfumo will be guest, fresh off a UK tour with Oliver Mutukudzi. Famous the world over for his revolutionary Chimurenga music, Mapfumo has brought Wesa on tours with his band as vocalist and dancer. Sounds like a recipe for an unforgettable concert.
