The Portland Water Bureau (PWB) is offering rebates when people with active PWB accounts purchase an ENERGY STAR certified washing machine. ENERGY STAR certified washing machines use about 30 percent less water than standard models.
Single-family residential customers can apply for a $100 rebate; those enrolled in the financial assistance program can apply for a rebate of up to $200. Multifamily residential and commercial customers can apply for up to 20 rebates of $100 each.
Before purchasing a new machine, check to make sure it is an ENERGY STAR certified model. Make sure to keep your receipt that includes purchase date, price and model name or number as it will be needed to apply for the rebate. Once purchased, the machine must be installed at the physical address on your PWB account. Finally, within a year of the purchase date, apply for the rebate, which will be applied as a credit to your PWB account.
