To the left is Israel Hughes’ The Sitting with Ribbons, a feature from GONE, the final show at the venerable 12×16 Gallery. Founding members Israel Hughes and Lee Ann Slawson are the featured artists in an exhibit of new works.
Hughes and Slawson, an art-couple, will be the last to show their work as the gallery closes its doors after twelve years. The show ends December 17.
Hughes has small scale mixed media pieces and a selection of new mixed larger pieces. A surprise series will also be on display.
Slawson shows photographs from the last 35 years in Portland of places and things that no longer exist and some that have changed completely.
The Gallery would like to thank “the countless guest artists, loyal supporters, and friends of the gallery for making the past twelve years possible. We are not going away. Our members and guest artists will continue to create art, show in other venues, and create new spaces.”
An Artists’ Reception is Sunday December 3, at 2 pm. 2×16 Gallery is at 8235 SE 13th Ave. No. 5. Gallery hours are Thursday to Sunday 12 to 5 pm. 12x16gallery.com/503.432.3513
